Retroist Crocodile Dundee Podcast

Welcome to the Retroist Crocodile Dundee Podcast. On today’s show I talk all about 1980s film classic, “Crocodile” Dundee. I talk about the stars, the plot, the sequels how hard it is to do an Australian accent and more. I am joined this week by Vic Sage with a new “Why Should I Know this Person?”, Doug McCoy with a new “Also Ran” and Rob O’Hara is back with a new Talking Tech (all about the boomerang). Music on the show was provided by Peachy (the Paul Hogan of Wales).

I’m glad to hear I wasn’t the only one to adopt a bad Australian accent and quote lines from the movie. Immediately after leaving the theater, my friends and I began to speak “Dundeese” to every stranger who walked by. We thought we were so funny and wild. Looking back, we were just a bunch of annoying teens. When I think about it, I’m actually quite embarrassed about it.

As for Crocodile Dundee 2, I have to watch it again to refresh my memory. I can’t remember if I liked it or not.

Thanks for all the emails. The show has not been in iTunes yesterday. That is resolved now.

    Ace podcast, mates!

This one was in regular Square House VHS-rental rotation when it came out.
Then I lucked out with a movie channel tape of it, which I still have in my pouch today, all jaggy and trackless.

Me and my 80s cobbers were gobsmacked by the funny and charismatic cast and, after rewatching it a few weeks ago, I’m still grinning like a shot fox after all these years!

Also caught the sequel and – agreed – it was a rip snorter!
Okay, maybe it wheezed out at the end of that second one, or maybe they ran out of moolah, or maybe I just wanted more. A dag versus dipsticks episode! Just great fun.

That is an impressive comment. You would do very well watching the Australian version of the film. I proved to myself how much I like this movie. After watching all 3 movies for the show in succession (and the non-International version of part 1), I recorded the show, edited it, uploaded it, went over to the couch to sit down and “Crocodile Dundee” was on TV. I watched it.

Didn’t even know there was a longer aussie version of it before the podcast.
Would love to watch but can’t find it anywhere!
