Retroist Golden Girls Podcast

Welcome to the Retroist Golden Girls Podcast. On today’s show I talk about the well respected sitcom, The Golden Girls. I talk about the show’s creation, its characters, its stars and much much more. I am joined this week by metagirl with a new top 5 list and by Vic Sage with a brand new segment, “Why Should I Know this Person?” Music on the show was provided by Peachy (the Estelle Getty of Wales).

I listened to this last night with my wife. Kinda like listening to an old radio show with our ears hanging on every word coming out of the speaker…. Anywho, second best podcast ever! Vic Sage’s new segement is a welcomed addition to the show, loved it, loved the whole podcast. Golden Girls forever!

Thanks for the kinds words, guys. I’m not sure how it slipped past my radar but I didn’t know about the Golden Palace TV series!

I thought I knew everything about the Golden Girls but I did not know about the exact origin; the comedy sketch. Thank you for the wonderful podcast.

@ Vic Maybe you were just blocking it?

@Lisa – Always glad when I can bring something new to a fan of a movie/tv show/video game!

Our favorite comfort show was another Junger-Witt production: Soap.

Great to hear Vic’s new segment!
About the name of it: I often ask myself that question, secretly.

I used to watch golden girls quite a bit at one point, but I don’t really get into it any more.
I vaguely remember the bit about them buying/moving into a hotel, but only vaguely. I think I must have seen the first episode or 2 of golden palace, but nothing more.

The somewhat similar show that has been among my fav comfort shows for longer than I can remember is “mama’s family”.
