Retroist Head of the Class Podcast

Retroist Head of the Class Podcast

Welcome to the Retroist Head of the Class Podcast. On this week’s show I talk about the 80s sitcom classic, Head of the Class. I start off talking about my time in school and how my mother was terrified at the prospect of my being put into “academic enrichment.”

Then I get on with the topic of today’s show. I talk about the people in front of and behind the camera, the plot, the show’s reception and much more.

Love the podcast, but please go back to the old, softer music in the show intros! The new music is way too distracting and intrusive.

Uh-huh, yes, the story part. The accompanying music used to be softer and gentler, but the last few have had more assertive music that makes it harder to hear what you’re saying. Sorry to offer a criticism–I wouldn’t if I didn’t care so much about the podcast. It’s still my favorite of all the ones I listen to. That is to say, it’s still fantastic!

Perfect choice for a podcast episode, Retroist! Head of the Class was the first TV show that I would clash with my Family on watching…I lost however and was forced to watch it on my little black and white television. 🙂

NP John. I will look into some more musical options. I was trying to use a little bit peppier music. I will see if I can find something that fills that role, but is not so distracting.

I remember the cast shuffle in the final 2 seasons. I despised Billy Connelly and the show morphed into a different animal. Hessman made this show what it was. Great episodes , hope this is readily available soon!

I liked how they explained why the students didn’t graduate after the fourth season. They said that season was the first half of their senior year and the fifth season was the second half.

Damn, that story about how you were treated in that advanced class, especially the part with three mocking poems being written about you at the same time made me so mad, on your behalf (you didn’t deserve that), and on behalf of every other kid whose life was degraded by being subjected to this dark side of humanity.

  8. We really gotta get Doc Brown’s Delorean up and running so we can go back in time and tell your younger self how to screw with those “smart” kids.
