Fruit and Creme Strawberry Twinkies
In the past, I used to splurge on Hostess products whenever I had some extra cash at our local corner market. I was an avid consumer, trying out all their offerings. However, what really excited me was when they introduced a new product called Fruit and Creme Strawberry Twinkies. These treats were a delight, with a combination of creamy filling and a slightly jelly-like strawberry flavor encased in the classic Twinkie shell. Unfortunately, just as quickly as they arrived, they vanished from the shelves, and I thought they were gone for good.
Then, last summer, while browsing the aisles of a nearby supermarket, I stumbled upon something I never expected to see again – Strawberry and Creme Twinkies (they had Ho-Hos too)! I eagerly bought a box and couldn't wait to sink my teeth into one. However, when I took that first bite, I realized it just wasn't the same. These Twinkies were labeled as strawberry creme, not strawberry AND creme. They were decent, but they didn't capture the magic of my youth.
So, I'll keep waiting, hoping that this delicious and unique twist on the Twinkie will make a comeback someday.
Why is it always creme and not cream. Is that a culinary thing, or does creme just sound classier?
