Retroist Pac-Man Podcast

To say Pac-Man was a phenomenon would be an understatement. The dot-muncher was a powerhouse and changed how games were played and sold.

Pac-Man was a big deal. When it landed in arcades and you saw it for the first time, it was like time stopped. This was a game unlike anything I had seen and the response among the game-playing public was very enthusiastic. The game wouldn’t stop at the arcade, that was just the beginning for a character that would become an icon.

On today’s show I talk about Pac-Man, the little yellow ghost-eater who had eaten more of my quarters than I liked to admit. After talking about a memory I have of the game’s initial release, I will discuss the game’s design, development, marketing, reception and much more.

We have a special treat for all you Pac-Man enthusiasts. Metagirl is back, and she's bringing us a top 5 list of the best Pac-Man variations.
