The Bad News Bears the TV Series
I was a huge fan of "The Bad News Bears" as a kid, and I watched every film in the series repeatedly. So when "The Bad News Bears" TV series came along, I was all over it. In this short-lived series, Jack Warden portrayed Morris Buttermaker, a former minor-league player who takes on the role of coach for the Bears. Catherine Hicks played Dr. Emily Rappant, the school principal.
Phillip Richard Allen played Roy Turner, the coach of the rival Lions, and you could spot early career performances by Corey Feldman, Billy Jayne, and Meeno Peluce, who were part of the Bears' team. Tricia Cast, who would later gain fame on "The Young and the Restless," played Amanda Wurlitzer, the star pitcher for the Bears.
The show had a two-season run on CBS, airing from March 24, 1979, to July 26, 1980, with a total of 23 episodes produced. A few years ago, the series was released on DVD, offering decent quality at a reasonable price.
However, one side effect of this release is that all the episodes that were previously available on YouTube have been removed. What remains now are just a few segments that people have uploaded.
